Portion of eastbound Mulberry (CO14) diverted to frontage road for 10 days starting April 30

Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Work between Timberline and Summit View Drive will improve drivability of the road

FORT COLLINS – Improvements to eastbound Colorado Highway 14 (Mulberry St.) between Timberline Road and Summit View Drive will begin on April 30 which will force traffic to be diverted onto the frontage road, on the south side of E. Mulberry for approximately 10 days and is expected to be completed by May 11.

This portion of the project will include removal of existing roadway and subgrade, re-building with 6 inches of aggregate base course and four asphalt lifts, for a total of 9 inches of hot mix asphalt.

That all means a longer lasting and smoother ride for travelers. This work is necessary due to failing subgrade and failing asphalt pavement.

Work will take place at night as well as during the day. Daytime hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and nighttime hours will be from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Upon completion of this portion of the project, travelers can expect a smoother driving surface that will add longevity to the roadway. Following the completion of this work on the eastbound lanes of E. Mulberry S. an asphalt overlay will be applied to the frontage road between S. Timberline Rd. & S. Summit View Dr. on the south side E. Mulberry.

Removal and replacement of curb and gutter will continue on E. Mulberry St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Intermittent lane closures can be expected. It is estimated that curb and gutter work will be completed mid to late May. Access will be maintained at all times to businesses and residents on along E. Mulberry.

Travelers can expect minor delays during occasional lane shifts and temporary lane closures to allow for trucks and equipment entering the highway. Moderate delays can be expected on eastbound E. Mulberry St. between S. Timberline Rd. and S. Summit View Dr. until May 11 while traffic is diverted onto the frontage road.
