Motorists to Encounter Delay April 6 on Red Mountain Pass
April 5, 2018 - Crews to install a drain under the highway
SOUTHWEST COLORADO—Travelers can expect brief delays Friday, April 6, on US Highway 550 south of the Red Mountain Pass summit as crews repair the road, which was damaged by freezing temperatures.
Work includes installing a drain under the highway to prevent additional potential damage from oncoming snowmelt and moisture from future rain storms.
Travel Impacts
Motorists should prepare for stops and one-lane alternating traffic guided by flaggers near the summit, at mile point 79. Be aware of workers and equipment on the roadway, and slow down. Work is expected to be completed by the end of Friday.
