Major Traffic Switch on I-70 near De Beque Begins Thursday

April 9, 2018 - Westbound traffic will be switched to eastbound lane

DE BEQUE/MESA COUNTY—
On Thursday, April 12, motorists traveling westbound on I-70 between mile points 56 and 59 will be switched to the eastbound lane as part of the I-70 overflow project. This barrier-separated configuration is required to provide crews with a safe work zone on the westbound lanes of the channel bridge.

The new traffic configuration will remain in effect 24/7 until late August 2018. Normal working hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Delays are expected, and motorists are urged to use caution when traveling in this new traffic pattern.

Safety is the top priority for the project team; the speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph through the work zone. Drivers should be aware of roadway signs and flaggers on-site directing traffic.
