CDOT Begins Work on CO 145 North of Telluride

Work will improve drainage on the highway


SAN MIGUEL COUNTY—
Starting Wednesday, Sept. 6, travelers on Colorado Highway (CO) 145 north of Telluride can expect delays as crews install a culvert beneath the highway. Work will take place in Sawpit, Colo., seven miles north of the Society Turn roundabout in Telluride, from mile point (MP) 79.9 to MP 80.1.

Work is scheduled to be completed in late October.

In addition to installing the culvert, crews will perform erosion control on the roadway embankment, with new stone work. The project will wrap up with seeding and mulching.

Travel Impacts

Expect periodic, brief delays on CO 145 for the first two weeks of the project (Wednesday, Sept. 6 through Monday, Sept. 18. Please watch for flaggers.

After Sept. 18, vehicles will be restricted to single-lane, alternating flow of traffic controlled by a portable light signal.

Daytime work hours range from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Speeds will be reduced to 35 mph throughout the work zone. Traffic fines in the construction zone will be doubled.

Work will be suspended during the weekend of the popular Telluride Blues and Brews Festival—Friday, Sept. 15 through Sunday, Sept. 17.
