Oct. 30, 2017 -

EL PASO COUNTY—CDOT crews will be making concrete pavement repairs on Powers Boulevard (Colorado Highway 21), between Fountain Boulevard and Airport Road, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 31.

The ramps will be open every night as well as over the weekend of Oct. 21st and 22nd. Motorists be directed to use Troy Avenue and Pete Jimenez Road as a detour. The closures are necessary for crews to do roadway resurfacing.

Motorists can expect lane closures in the area beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Weather permitting, work is expected to be completed Wednesday, Nov. 8. During daytime hours, motorists will experience single-lane closures, with two lane closures at night.

Work in the area entails up to three concrete panels being removed each night. During the day, new concrete will be poured at 8 a.m., where the panel was removed. Once cured, that section of roadway will to open to traffic and crews will move to the next section. The work will require daytime, alternating lane closures, beginning with the northbound, left lane. Motorist should expect and plan for delays. Traffic control will be in place for this short-term repair project.
