Weather extends closure of County Road 9E at CO 402 Intersection

May 19, 2017 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - LOVELAND – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor Coulson Excavating Co. of Loveland has extended the full closure of County Road 9E, from Colorado Highway 402 to East First Street, after recent inclement weather conditions interrupted paving activities.

The closure will remain in place 24 hours a day, throughJune 2.

Signed detours will be in place to guide motorists around the closure. Normal working hours for this project are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Speed limits will be reduced to 40 mph in the construction zone and a width restriction of 10 feet will be in place for trucks during normal working hours.

“This phase of work requires extensive paving and asphalt tie-in to CO 402,” Nathan Silberhorn, CDOT project engineer, said. “The road closure enables construction crews to complete the paving work safely, and rebuild the road efficiently, following the recent weather delays we experienced.”

Construction activities began in April 2017 with the removal of existing vegetation and dirt to prepare for the expansion of the intersection. Current asphalt paving and concrete pouring activities will ready the area for crews to install new deceleration and acceleration lanes, a turn lane for eastbound commuters, and a new realignment of CR 9E. During the final phases of the project, the area will be reseeded with vegetation, and striping and new signage will be installed.
