Road Work to Cause Traffic Impacts from US 550 Farmington Hill South to County Road 302
LA PLATA COUNTY—From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 1, drivers can expect traffic impacts and delays from the US Highway 550 and US Highway 160 intersection south to County Road 302 as crews do roadway work.
Wednesday's work will take place on Farmington Hill, from the US 550/US 160 intersection to the top of the hill at La Plata County Road 220, followed on Thursday by work on a four-mile stretch from County Road (CR) 220 south to CR 302. This work will help improve and prolong the roadway's life.
Travel Impacts
Flaggers on Wednesday will control traffic at the US 550/US 160 intersection as the light signal will not be operational. Motorists will also encounter one-lane, alternating traffic guided by a pilot car through the project work zone with delays of up to 15 minutes. Travelers may want to consider an alternate route.
Travelers are urged to:
- Slow down—Higher speeds can cause loose stones to scatter, and damage vehicle paint and windshields.
- Increase distance between vehicles—Space between you and other vehicles will help reduce damage caused by loose stones.
- Follow work zone signage—Use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone.
