Phased Closures of Yosemite Street Start Tonight

GREENWOOD VILLAGE—Work on the south half of the Arapahoe Road and Yosemite Street intersection will take place this weekend, restricting access to Yosemite Street (south) from Arapahoe Road. Through traffic on Arapahoe Road will be maintained, but eastbound Arapahoe Road will be reduced to one through lane throughout the weekend.

Immediately following this intersection work, the one-block stretch of Yosemite Street between Arapahoe Road and Xanthia Street to the south will close for about 10 days. During this time, Yosemite Street (north of Arapahoe Road) remains open. All businesses will remain accessible, but in some instances drivers will need to use alternate routes to access businesses along Yosemite Street. See map below.

Yosemite Street between Arapahoe Road and Yosemite Circle to the north is scheduled to close for about 10 days in early June.

"We understand these closures are inconvenient, but by fully closing the roadway we will be able to complete about two months' worth of work in about 20 days," said Mike McNish, construction manager for Kraemer North America.

Crews will be working day and night to allow for Yosemite Street to be shifted to the west so utility relocations, wall work, permanent sidewalk and curb/gutter construction can be completed on the east side of Yosemite Street. These are the only planned full closures of Yosemite Street, but intermittent lane closures will be needed to complete the work.

Project Info

This $66 million Responsible Acceleration of Maintenance (RAMP) Project includes building an additional lane along westbound Arapahoe Road from Yosemite Street to Greenwood Plaza Boulevard, providing three left turn lanes from the I-25 off-ramps, realigning the frontage road in the northeast quadrant of the interchange, building noise walls near the Arapahoe Road and Yosemite Street intersection and widening Yosemite Street from Yosemite Circle on the north to Xanthia Street on the south.

This project is designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic operations and safety. Substantial completion is slated for summer 2018.
