Northbound Exit 98A/Ilex Street I-25 on- and off-ramps temporarily closed beginning May 16; D Street extension opening May 19
The northbound off-ramp will reopen the afternoon of Friday, May 19, while the northbound on-ramp remains closed until mid-June.
Northbound I-25 motorists wishing to exit at Ilex Street/Exit 98A will be directed to the City Center Drive exit.
Motorists wishing to access northbound I-25 at Ilex Street/Exit 98A will be detoured north via Santa Fe Avenue to the City Center Drive I-25 northbound on-ramp. (See Map 1)
From 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Wednesday, May 17 to Friday, May 19, Ilex Street will be reduced to a single lane of traffic with a flagger to direct motorists in and out of Runyon Field.
On the afternoon of Friday, May 19, the Exit 98A northbound off-ramp will re-open. At that time, Ilex Street will be permanently closed. Northbound I-25 traffic from Exit 98A will access Santa Fe Avenue via the new D-Street extension. Motorists will also access businesses and Runyon Field via the new D-Street Extension.
Motorists wishing to access northbound I-25 at D Street/Exit 98A will be detoured north via Santa Fe Avenue to the City Center Drive I-25 northbound on-ramp. (See Map 2)
Slight traffic delays are expected, and motorists are urged to use extra caution while traveling in the new traffic pattern.
PROJECT INFORMATION: The I-25 Ilex Street to City Center Drive project is the first project of the New Pueblo Freeway: the reconstruction of I-25 between City Center Drive (1st Street) and Ilex Street through downtown Pueblo. Construction includes upgrading several bridges south of downtown. The project began in July 2015, and is expected to be completed in 2018.
