Work to begin on US 160 near Kim and Branson

March 16, 2017 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - Road surface, guardrail and bridge repairs will result in safer ride

LAS ANIMAS COUNTY — On March 20, the Colorado Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin work on U.S. 160 near the towns of Kim and Branson. Work will include improvements to paving, guardrails, bridges, shoulders, signage, and delineators in the area.

Project work begins at the junction with State Highway 389, and extends east towards Kim, approximately 23 miles. All work on the project is expected to be completed by fall 2017. A&S Construction of Cañon City, CO will perform as the prime contractor on this $4.5 million project.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: Travelers should expect multiple lane closures with alternating one-way traffic and possible traffic delays during road improvements. Construction work hours will run from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Fridayand there is no weekend work planned for this project. Speeds will be reduced to 40 MPH and there will be an 11-foot width restriction in place during working hours.
