US 40/Colfax Avenue Resurfacing Project Between I-70 and Kipling Street Starts this Week
JEFFERSON COUNTY—Starting this week, crews will begin repairing and improving Colfax Avenue between Interstate 70 and Kipling Street. Work on this $2.9 million project includes asphalt resurfacing, curb and gutter replacement, installation of Americans With Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps, traffic signal updates and minor bridge repairs.
Travel Impacts
Motorists should expect single- and double-lane closures on Colfax during working hours, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 5 a.m., Mondays through Fridays. Weekend work may occur as needed.
A vehicle width restriction of 12 feet will be in effect through the project zone.
"There are numerous businesses along this stretch of roadway and is also a major route people take to get home," said Paul Jesaitis, transportation director of CDOT's Denver Metro region. "That's why it's so important to us to deliver a project that increases safety and extends the lifespan of the roadway. Our goal is to minimally impact businesses and the traveling public."
