CDOT to Repair Bridges on I-70, I-25 in Denver
DENVER—On Wednesday, July 5, 2017, crews will begin repairing nine bridges surrounding the I-70 and I-25 interchange. Work is scheduled through late 2017, as weather permits.
This $4.2 million project consists of bridge deck repairs, expansion joint replacements and new concrete overlay on all nine bridges within the project area. The maintenance-critical project will repair deteriorating bridge decks and expansion devices to help extend the lifespan of the bridges.
"The I-70 and I-25 interchange is an important economic route in our state, making this project critical to complete," said CDOT's Denver Metro area Transportation Director Paul Jesaitis. "Our goal is to deliver a project that increases safety and extends the life of the bridges. We're committed to having minimal impact to the traveling public and will conduct all work at night."
Crews will use a polyester concrete overlay—a highly durable and waterproof material—to extend the life of the bridge, reduce construction time and reduce the impact to the traveling public.
