Construction Begins on US 85 from I-76 to 168th Avenue
ADAMS COUNTY—Starting Monday, July 16, crews will begin resurfacing and repair work on US 85 from Interstate 76 to 168th Avenue to improve safety and road serviceability. Motorists can expect the roadway to be in its final alignment by winter 2017.
This $10.2 million project includes roadway resurfacing, bridge repair, guardrail and cable barrier installation, and updating traffic signals, signing, and striping.
"This section of roadway is starting to deteriorate and needs to be repaired in order to extend its life span," said Paul Jesaitis, Region 1 transportation director. "These updates will significantly improve travel safety along this corridor."
Travel Impacts
Construction will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays, with limited day and weekend work. Motorists can expect various lane closures on both northbound and southbound US 85. Traffic will be maintained during peak travel times throughout construction.
CDOT, contractor Hamon Infrastructure, Adams County, the City of Brighton and Commerce City would like to thank motorists for their patience during construction and remind drivers to go slow through the cone zone.
