Overnight closure of westbound I-70B at US 6 scheduled for July 10

July 7, 2017 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Detour will be in place for 12-hour closure

MESA COUNTY – Beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 10, construction crews will close westbound I-70B (US 6 & 50) at the US 6 interchange in Grand Junction, from American Way to Rimrock Avenue. To access I-70B motorists can follow the posted detours along American Way and Rimrock Avenue.

The public is encouraged to use one of two alternate detours at the intersection of Grand Avenue and 1st Street. Motorists traveling westbound on Grand Avenue should follow CO 340 to Riverside Parkway, and then travel north to 25 Road. Motorists traveling on northbound 1st Street should continue past Grand Avenue and then access westbound US 6 to avoid the closure.

This detour will be in place until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11. Westbound I-70B will reopen that morning.

"CDOT appreciates the public’s patience with this phase of the project,” says CDOT Project Engineer Eric Peterson. “The purpose of completing the work overnight is to avoid peak traffic times and minimize delays.”

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Width restrictions are not in effect, and crews do not expect significant delays. Please follow posted speed limits and pay close attention to flaggers’ directions.
