CDOT to Hold Community Meeting for Upcoming Signalized Intersection Construction Projects in Salida

July 13, 2017 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - SALIDA, COLORADO - The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Technology Constructors Incorporated (TCI) will begin construction Monday, July 24 on replacement of two signalized intersections in Salida to improve the safety and efficiency for all users, and to upgrade the infrastructure of these intersections:

  1. US 50 and CR 111Improvements include full replacement of the existing span wire signal with permanent poles and mast arms, connecting existing sidewalks/trails and establishing crossings for future sidewalk/trail extensions. This work is currently scheduled for August 2017.

  1. 1st Street (SH 291) and F Street – This intersection will undergo a full reconstruction with concrete signal replacement, replacement of a City of Salida waterline, and an asphalt overlay of 1st Street extending one block from the intersection. This work will not begin until after Labor Day to avoid peak summer traffic.

Both locations will include multi-modal improvements for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

LEARN MORE: A community meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 19 from 6:30―8:30 p.m. at the Salida SteamPlant Annex, located at 220 West Sackett Ave. Businesses and community members are encouraged to attend to learn more about the project and sign up for construction notifications.  

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: All pedestrians and motorized vehicles should expect travel impacts throughout the construction project at both locations. Impacts for 1st Street and F Street will be more extensive due to the project’s scope and the constrained space. Additional information regarding impacts will be provided at the community meeting. Specific impacts will be announced closer to the start of construction and will be updated weekly.
