Traffic Switch on northbound I-25 at Crossroads Boulevard scheduled for nighttime hours of Aug. 16-17

August 14, 2017 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Southbound traffic switch will be conducted later in August

LARIMER COUNTY – Next week, CDOT and contractor RL Wadsworth will conduct a traffic switch on Interstate 25 at the Crossroads Boulevard exit in Loveland. The switch will take place during nighttime working hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday (Aug. 16-17), weather permitting. Northbound traffic will be realigned onto the newly constructed bridge.

Within the month of August, crews will also realign southbound traffic onto the new structure. The bridge was built with 28-foot shoulders, designed to accommodate a future Express Lane, and has sufficient room to temporarily handle the full four lanes of traffic on I-25.

Once southbound traffic is switched, the temporary bridge, located to the west of the construction zone, will be removed. The demolition and removal of the old southbound bridge is tentatively scheduled for the end of the month. Crews will then begin constructing the new southbound bridge in the fall.

“We are excited to introduce a new bridge to Colorado’s highway system,” says Project Engineer Jim Hoffman. “The roadway upgrades are a key element to CDOT’s long-term view of improving the North I-25 roadway.”

EXPECTED TRAFFIC IMPACTS: During nighttime hours (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) on August 16-17, there will be various lane closures on northbound I-25. On- and off-ramps at Crossroads Boulevard (exit 259) may also be closed periodically. Please allow additional commuting time to drive through the project. Some additional lane closures are expected at night and will be communicated on both the CDOT website and via CDOT’s alert system. The timing of the southbound traffic switch will be announced at a later date.

DETOUR INFORMATION: In the event of a ramp closure, northbound motorists are encouraged to use East County Road 32 (exit 262) to navigate around the project. Southbound motorists are encouraged to use US 24 (exit 257). Either route will add approximately five minutes of travel time.

CONTACT INFORMATION:  If you have questions about the project or would like to be added to the project distribution list, please contact the public information team by phone at 970-775-8575 or by email at [email protected]. You will receive a response within 24 business hours.

*RAMP: Responsible Acceleration of Maintenance and Partnerships is a shortterm funding program whereby CDOT is funding multi-year projects based on year of expenditure, rather than saving for the full amount of a project before construction begins. Partnership project funding was applied for, and matched by local agencies, to accelerate priority projects in the agencies’ local areas. RAMP projects may see funding from 2015 through 2017.
