Highway Impacts begin for Colorado Classic

August 10, 2017 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - COLORADO SPRINGS — The inaugural Colorado Classic gets underway today with the men’s and women’s circuit race between downtown Colorado Springs and Garden of the Gods. 

        

Racing for the women begins at 10 a.m. and ends at approximately 11:35 a.m.  The men’s race begins about 1:10 p.m. and is expected to finish around 4:40 p.m.

Traffic impacts begin at 9 a.m. and continue until approximately 5 p.m.:

  • Interstate 25/Bijou Street Interchange – Off-ramps closed from I-25 to Bijou; on-ramps will remain open.
  • U.S. 24 – Some turn lanes will be closed on Highway 24, east and west of the I-25/Cimarron Interchange.  Delays should be expected due to the turn lane closures and ramp closures at I-25/Bijou.

Assisting motorists traveling the various state and local roadways that are part of the 313 mile race route is CDOT’s websitewww.cotrip.org.  The site includes information regarding road closure and opening times, anticipated delays and parking information.  Please be aware that delay and closure times are estimates only and subject to change depending on the pace of the race, weather, and other unanticipated conditions. 

For real-time information regarding highway impacts, motorists can sign up for CDOT email and text alerts by visiting www.cotrip.org and clicking on the small envelope icon at the bottom right of the page.  In addition, daily road closure information will be available by calling 511 from anywhere in the state. CDOT is distributing race information the morning of each stage, with any necessary updates regarding impacts to the state highway system.

Stage 2/Breckenridge Circuit

Between downtown Breckenridge and east Breckenridge.

Women’s Race from approximately 11 a.m. to 12:25 a.m.

Men’s Race from approximately 2 p.m. to 4:40 p.m.

Road closures begin at 10 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. 

Minor delays expected on CO. 9 between Frisco and Fairplay.  Highway 9 remains OPEN through Breckenridge.
