Expect Lane Closures and Delays on US 50 West of Gunnison Aug. 22-27
GUNNISON COUNTY—Starting Tuesday August 22, crews will conduct intermmitent traffic stops as they complete nighttime work on US Highway 50, between mile points 121 and 123.5, near the Blue Mesa Summit.
From 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night/morning through Saturday, Aug. 26, traffic will be in a single-lane configuration, switching between the eastbound and westbound lanes. On Sunday morning, crews will continue subgrade work before paving the road.
Crews will also pave from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 24 through Saturday, Aug. 26.
Traffic Impacts
- Expect a single-lane restriction/lane shifts for eastbound and westbound US 50.
- Prepare for delays of up to 20 minutes before queues are released.
- Observe a speed-limit reduction to 35 mph.
- Loads wider than 12 feet will be restricted.
- Work is weather dependent and subject to change.
Work Schedule
- 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night/morning of Tuesday, August 22 through Saturday, Aug. 26
- 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, Friday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 27
- Starting Monday, Aug. 28, crews will resume their normal working hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This construction project will fully reconstruct US 50 between MP 121.6 to MP 123.0 in Gunnison County. Work includes roadway reconstruction, widening, landslide mitigation, culvert replacement, earthwork and erosion control.
