Expect Delays on US 160 North of La Veta for Paving
HUERFANO COUNTY—Starting Wednesday, Aug. 23, drivers can expect significant delays on US 160 north of La Veta (mile points 294 to 296.5) as crews continue paving as part of an ongoing project. All work is scheduled for completion in October 2017.
On Wednesday, Aug. 23, crews will work on barrier. Paving will begin on Thursday from mile points (MP) 294.37 to 295.98, with road closures extending from MP 294 to 296.5.
Eastbound and westbound drivers can expect traffic stops up to 15 minutes as flaggers alternate traffic through the work zone. This configuration will be in effect until Sept. 20.
Traffic Impacts
Starting Wednesday, August 23, crews will begin paving US 160 from MP 294.37 to 295.98, north of La Veta. Work will impact travel as follows:
- Eastbound and westbound US 160 will be reduced to a single lane each (from MP 294 to 296.5.).
- Flaggers will stop traffic for up to 15 minutes to alternate traffic through closures.
- Motorists should expect delays in the area.
- During lane closures, the speed limit will be reduced to 40 mph in the construction zone.
Schedule
Normal working hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mondays to Saturdays. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
Project Info
Crews on this project will widen the highway, pave, add signage, stripe and build a new passing lane on US 160. Crews will also improve the I-25 on and off-ramps in Walsenburg.
Tricon 2, LLC, is the contractor for this $4.86 million project.
