Construction Begins Today on CO 141 Near Whitewater
August 28, 2017
MESA COUNTY—Beginning today, CDOT will begin a 12-mile chip seal project on CO 141 at US 50 near Whitewater, from mile points 154-142. The project is scheduled to last about three weeks.
During this period, traffic will be escorted by a pilot car to maintain lower speeds in a single-lane configuration, and the speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph through the work zone. Minor delays should be expected.
Travel Impacts
During construction, travelers should drive slowly and maintain a safe following distance through the work zone. Traffic fines in the construction zone may be doubled.
- Slow down – Higher speeds can cause loose stones to scatter and damage vehicle paint and windshields.
- Increase distance between vehicles – Space between you and other vehicles will help reduce damage caused by loose stones.
- Follow work zone signage – Use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone.
- Bicyclists and motorcyclists should use extreme caution during construction operations.
