Open house features plans to improve traffic flow on CO 96

April 20, 2017 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - Pueblo – Design efforts are currently under way to improve a five-block stretch of CO 96 (Lincoln St./Thatcher Ave.) and the public is invited to an open house meeting April 26 to view these plans and ask questions of project representatives.

This project will ultimately widen CO 96 between Orman and Abriendo avenues to provide a shared turn lane in the center of the roadway for drivers turning left onto Grant, Pitkin, Routt or Evans avenues. This turn lane is designed to improve traffic flow and enhance driver safety by separating CO 96 through traffic from drivers who slow down and stop to navigate these left-hand turns.

Along with widening CO 96, this project will provide more clearly defined pedestrian crossings and make improvements to the Abriendo Avenue intersection.

Construction is currently expected to begin in the fall of 2018.

When: Wednesday, April 26, 2017 (anytime from 5:30 to 7 p.m.).

Where: Pueblo Community College, 900 W. Orman Ave. Pueblo, CO 81004. Student Center (SC) Room 147. Free parking available in the SC lot.
