Expect Delays in May on 4 Street in Pueblo for Traffic Signal Work


PUEBLO—From 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 30 to 5:30 a.m. on Monday, May 1, travelers can expect delays and traffic impacts at Colorado Highway (CO) 96 (aka East 4th Street) and Bradford as crews replace traffic signals. At 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 1, crews also will close 4th Street from Albany to Chester for similar work, opening the road at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 2.

There will be a signed detour in place routing traffic to 8th Street via Hudson and Santa Fe streets. During this time, Hudson may also be in an all-way stop condition with the signals disabled and stop signs in place. Pedestrians will be able to cross over the 4th Street Fountain Creek Bridge without interruption.

Other Traffic Impacts

  • From 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., May 1-31
    The northbound lanes of East 4th Street and Bradford heading to the I-25 on-ramp will be closed.
  • From 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., May 1-31
    The southbound lanes of Bradford will be closed as crews install new traffic lights and crosswalk lights.
    • Detours: 4th Street westbound traffic will be routed at Albany to 5th street to the ramp for I-25 north. 4th Street eastbound traffic will be routed at Chester south to City Center Drive.

About the Project

This work is part of the $10 million, CO 96 (4th Street) improvement project which includes, intersection improvements, signal replacement, resurfacing, and bridge rehabilitation. Work began in July and will improve surface quality, enhance safety and provide improved pedestrian crossings, including upgrading ADA ramps to current standards. The project is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2017.
