Closures Begin Tonight to Shift I-25 and Arapahoe Road Traffic

GREENWOOD VILLAGE—The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close various sections of Interstate 25 and Arapahoe Road over the next few nights as part of full reconstruction of the interchange. These closures are scheduled as follows:

  • 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 to 5:30 a.m., Thursday, April 13
    Lane closures on northbound I-25 between Dry Creek and Orchard roads, with only one lane open at midnight
    This will allow northbound I-25 traffic to shift into its final alignment. Drivers should be aware of the new traffic pattern.

  • 9 p.m. Friday, April 14 to 5:30 a.m. Monday, April 17
    Complete closure of the southbound I-25 off-ramp to Arapahoe Road for ramp reconstruction (See detour map.)

  • 7 p.m. Friday, April 14 to 5:30 a.m., Monday, April 17
    Complete closure of eastbound Arapahoe Road at Yosemite Street to shift eastbound Arapahoe Road to the outside (or south) between Yosemite Street and Clinton Court

Please allow extra time for your commute, adhere to speed reductions on I-25 and Arapahoe Road and avoid distractions. Alternate routes are advised. Watch for weekly construction update emails with the most up-to-date information regarding traffic impacts.

Project Info

This $66 million Responsible Acceleration of Maintenance Project (RAMP) includes:

  • building an additional lane along westbound Arapahoe Road from Yosemite Street to Greenwood Plaza Boulevard;
  • providing three left turn lanes from the I-25 off-ramps;
  • realigning the frontage road in the northeast quadrant of the interchange;
  • building noise walls near the Arapahoe Road and Yosemite Street intersection; and
  • widening Yosemite Street from Yosemite Circle on the north to Xanthia Street on the south.

This project is designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic operations and safety. Substantial completion is slated for summer 2018.
