TRAFFIC ALERT: Full Overnight Closure of Southbound I-25 On-Ramp and Northbound I-25 On- and Off-Ramps

December 23, 2016 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - Overnight Lane Restrictions on Northbound and Southbound I-25 and US 24/Cimarron Street Tuesday, Dec. 27

Wednesday, Dec. 28 - Contingency Night 

  • Southbound I-25 on-ramp from US 24/Cimarron Street will be closed for restriping from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour east on Cimarron Street to south Nevada Avenue to I-25.

  • The northbound I-25 on- and off-ramps from US 24/Cimarron Street will be closed for restriping from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Northbound I-25 on-ramp detour to northbound Nevada Avenue to westbound Bijou Street. Northbound I-25 off-ramp detour to Bijou Street back to southbound I-25 to Cimarron Street/US 24.

  • Double right lane restrictions on southbound I-25 between Cimarron Street/US 24 and Nevada Avenue/Tejon Street from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for restriping. Motorists should expect delays since there may be only one through lane open.  

  • Intermittent northbound I-25 lane restrictions between Nevada Avenue/Tejon Street and Bijou Avenue, as well as on Cimarron Street/US 24 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for restriping.

Drivers are Urged to Slow Down and Pay Attention

  • Speed reductions to 55 mph on I-25 between Colorado Avenue and south Nevada Avenue/Tejon Street and 30 mph speed reduction on US 24/Cimarron Street between 8th Street and I-25.

  • Pay close attention when driving near the I-25/Cimarron Project.

  • Slow down, observe speed limits, avoid distractions, and allow extra time for your commute.

  • Alternative route advised.

PROJECT INFORMATION: The $113 million I-25/Cimarron Interchange Design-Build Project involves rebuilding the I-25 interchange between Colorado Avenue on the north and South Nevada Avenue to the south, 8th Street on the west and the Cimarron Street over Fountain Creek bridge on the east. Improvements are intended to provide enhanced operations, correct existing safety and design deficiencies, and to serve the anticipated short- and long-term travel demands in this area. When complete, this will be a high-functioning interchange that safely handles more vehicles and enhances multi-modal travel for those using I-25, US 24/Cimarron Street and the trail system along Monument and Fountain creeks. Substantial completion is planned for fall 2017.
