TRAVEL ADVISORY:  Traffic Signal Damaged by Car Crash on US 160/550 in S Durango

November 19, 2016 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - CDOT Crew to make repairs Sunday

DURANGO – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will turn off the traffic signal at the intersection of S. Camino del Rio and County Road 210 tomorrow morning, Sunday, November 20. A CDOT crew will repair the light from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The traffic light, located near Centennial Plaza in south Durango, was damaged when a vehicle crashed into the adjacent electrical box early Saturday morning (November 19). The electrical box controls the light signal.

CDOT traffic and safety engineer, Sam Sanders said, “A short-term fix has been made and the light is currently operating normally, but tomorrow motorists can expect slow traffic, and some brief delays while driving through the intersection when we make the permanent repairs.”

Flaggers will control the flow of traffic and drivers will be guided through a single lane approach in all directions. The public is asked to use caution and watch for traffic control personnel, workers, and equipment in the area.

A CDOT traffic engineer makes some temporary repairs on the electrical box which controls the signal at the intersection of S. Camino del Rio and CR 210, near Centennial Plaza. A crew will conduct full repairs for most of the day on Sunday.
