Overnight closure of Crossroads Boulevard at I-25 on Nov. 21
LARIMER COUNTY - On Nov. 21, the Colorado Department of Transportation will have an overnight closure of Crossroads Boulevard from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for placement of the temporary bridge on I-25.
“On Monday night, an innovative temporary Acrow Bridge will be constructed west of I-25 prior to the demolition of the current bridges,” says Project Engineer Jim Hoffman. “By placing this temporary bridge on I-25, we will be able to maintain two lanes of traffic on the roadway during daytime hours.”
An Acrow Bridge provides a safer, faster alternative route during construction in which lanes are moved to divert traffic around work sites. The bridge will also provide safer access for and from the construction site for workers, heavy off-road vehicles, machinery and equipment. In the event of inclement weather, the contingency date is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 22, beginning at 9 p.m.
RL Wadsworth of Colorado is the contractor for this $22.1 million project, which is expected to be completed in October 2017.
DETOUR INFORMATION: Motorists should plan additional travel time to follow the suggested detour around the closure. Motorists traveling north on I-25, attempting to go west on Crossroads Boulevard will proceed north to CO 392, then heading back south on I-25 to exit at Crossroads Boulevard. This route will add approximately 6 minutes (5.6 miles) of additional travel time. Motorists traveling south on I-25 attempting to go east on Crossroads Boulevard will continue south to US 34, then heading back north on I-25 to exit at Crossroads Boulevard. This route will add approximately 4 minutes (3.8 miles) of additional travel time. Eastbound and westbound traffic on Crossroads will use these same I-25 detours. Please follow posted detour signs and flaggers’ directions throughout the construction zone.
EXPECTED PROJECT TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal throughout the duration of the project, with two lanes of traffic maintained in each direction on I-25. Speed limits will be reduced in the construction zone for both the safety of the traveling public as well as construction crews working along the highway. Some lane closures are expected at night and will be communicated on both the CDOT website and via CDOT’s government delivery system.
