Manitou Avenue Paving Phase of Overlay Project Delayed Until Spring 2017
“Based on current weather conditions and temperatures, the best decision for the project is to reschedule paving for Spring 2017,” said CDOT Project Engineer Randy Johnson. “The newly designed drainage installation near Manitou Avenue and Garden of the Gods Place encountered several unknown conflicts, forcing CDOT to re-design the drainage package. These impacts pushed the schedule and weather is now a factor,” said Johnson. “Postponing the paving until the warmer Spring weather will assure deliver of a quality project,” said Johnson.
The project team will complete the drainage work at Garden of the Gods Place and Manitou Avenue and all Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp work on Manitou Avenue by late Dec. 2016.
All work at Site A (Manitou Avenue between Serpentine Drive to US 24 Access Ramp at the Rainbow Falls Bridge) is complete.
Site B Detour
Motorists will continue to experience a full closure at Garden of Gods Place between El Paso Boulevard and Manitou Avenue until late Dec. Detours are in place.
