TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Ramp closures on I-70 at Georgetown and Silver Plume next week

October 7, 2016 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - CLEAR CREEK COUNTY— On Tuesday, Oct. 11 and Wednesday, Oct. 12, the Colorado Department of Transportation will close the Interstate 70 on and off-ramps at Georgetown and will close the I-70 on and off-ramps at Silver Plume on Thursday, Oct. 13.

Closures will be from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

These closures are a part of paving operations for CDOT’s I-70: US 6 to Georgetown resurfacing project. The purpose of this project is to resurface the roadway, which will improve safety through a smoother surface. Due to October having the lowest traffic volume and dropping nighttime temperatures, the project has switched to daytime hours as it is too cold to continue paving at night. Daytime hours are also required because of the extreme grade of the roadway, this is to ensure the safety of CDOT crews.

All work is weather dependent.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Detours will be established to direct traffic to the on and off-ramps at the next exit for both closures. For the Georgetown ramp closure, signs will direct traffic to use Empire Exit 232. For the Silver Plume ramp closure, signs will direct traffic to use Bakerville Exit 221.
