NIGHTTIME TRAVEL ALERT:  Re-striping Operation Set for US 160 in South Durango and throughout Region

October 11, 2016 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will replace faded pavement markings throughout the southwest Colorado region.

The contractor Roadsafe Traffic Systems, Inc., will begin re-striping operations tonight after 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11 and continue work through Friday night, Oct. 14 on US Highway 160 in south Durango between Sawyer and Santa Rita Dr. The pavement markings operation will be done during night hours, to minimize impacts to daytime travel. The work is also weather dependent.

Various other locations around the southwest Colorado region will also have pavement markings replaced during the month of October. The re-striping project will replace and enhance selected pedestrian crosswalks, symbols, and stop lines.

Motorists are urged to use caution in the work zones, where through lanes and turn lanes may be temporarily closed to traffic, to ensure the safety of the workers and the traveling public. Typical work zones will only be in place for a few hours.
