Motorist Detour Routes
Northbound Federal Boulevard traffic will take eastbound 64th Avenue to northbound Pecos Street to westbound 72nd Avenue to rejoin northbound Federal Boulevard.
Southbound Federal Boulevard traffic will use eastbound 72nd Avenue to southbound Pecos Street to westbound 64th Avenue to rejoin southbound Federal Boulevard.
Background
The Federal Boulevard & 69th Bridge Replacement over BNSF & RTD Railroad will replace the existing structurally deficient and functionally obsolete bridge and reconstruct one half mile of roadway from W 67th Avenue to W 70th Avenue. Extensive earthwork and retaining walls are required at the bridge approaches.
Completion of this project will result in a wider bridge, eliminating the existing pinch point and allowing for two additional through lanes over the bridge. ADA curb ramps will be added for handicap access and new wider sidewalks on each side of Federal Boulevard will improve pedestrian safety and mobility. Raised medians will be added to separate traffic and aesthetic enhancements will include a raised median planter with the Westminster city logo and future sculptures. Further benefits include added lighting for Federal Blvd. and Little Dry Creek pedestrian trail, as well as a new signal at 69th Ave to access the RTD Eagle-P3 commuter rail boarding station.
The City of Westminster has been an important partner in the planning and development of this project, which is scheduled for completion in mid 2017. CDOT and the contractor team, lead by Hamon Infrastructure, would like to remind motorists to Slow for the Cone Zone. Fines will be doubled within the work zone.
