TRAVEL ALERT: CDOT to Survey Several Intersections on US 550 in Durango
A Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) survey crew will be gathering data and information for a possible future intersection improvement project. The survey work will begin at 8th St. and continue northward to 17th St. over the course of the week. (See attached map) Six intersections will be surveyed: 8th St., 9th St., 12th St., 14th St., 15th St., and 17th St.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS: From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Sunday, motorists can expect intermittent lane closures and lane shifts on Camino del Rio and Main Ave. along US 550. Traffic will be guided by flagging personnel, signage and cones. Side street traffic at each intersection will also encounter controlled traffic, directed by flaggers.
The CDOT survey crew will perform a more detailed survey at the intersection of Main Ave., Camino del Rio, and 14th St. on the final day of the schedule, Sunday, Oct. 9. Motorists are advised to pay particular attention to surveyors, flagging crew and signage.
“The information collected by our surveyors will be used for planning and design purposes. The scope of work includes mapping of existing topography and utilities, survey of existing striping, and utility location,” said Todd Johnston, CDOT Right of Way Coordinator. “We appreciate the patience of drivers and we urge the community to use caution while driving through the intersections. Allowing yourself a little extra time while driving through downtown Durango may be helpful.”
