Traffic Delays Expected in Keystone/Dillion Area Saturday

September 8, 2016 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Loveland Pass Closed to Commercial Vehicles

SUMMIT COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is advising drivers to be prepared for significant delays on U.S. 6 and adjacent roadways in the Keystone and Dillon area on Saturday, September 10, due to a triathlon

As part of the bicycling portion, riders will utilize Highway 6 between Dillon and Montezuma Road in Keystone, requiring numerous lanes shifts, complex cone patterns through several intersections and traffic stops.

To maintain safety for both the participants and the traveling public, commercial vehicles will be required to use the Eisenhower/Johnson Memorial Tunnel from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  In addition, due to safety concerns, CDOT does not allow commercial vehicles transporting hazardous materials to travel through the tunnel with other vehicles.  Therefore, at the top of each hour Saturday, CDOT will escort waiting hazmat loads through the tunnel.  These closures last approximately 15 minutes.

The Colorado State Patrol and local law enforcement will be monitoring and assisting with traffic control.
