Full Closure of Ramp to Occur on Interstate 25 for Overlay Project

September 19, 2016 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - The closure will last over the weekend of September 23-26

EL PASO COUNTY —The Interstate 25 Overlay and MLK Bypass project will include a full-ramp closure for weekend work between Friday, September 23 and Monday, September 26. Work will include milling and paving of the ramp and bridge.

The westbound Highway 24 off-ramp to northbound I-25 at Exit 139 will be fully closed beginning on Friday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. and reopen on Monday, September 26 at 5:00 a.m. The Nevada Avenue Exit 140 onto northbound I-25 will also be closed beginning on Sunday, September 25 at 5:00 a.m. and remain fully closed until Monday, September 26 at 5:00 a.m.

A detour will be specified near the project zone rerouting traffic to the Lake Avenue/Circle Drive Exit 138 during westbound Hwy 24 off-ramp full closure. A U-turn movement at Exit 138 upon exiting westbound Highway 24 onto southbound I-25 will allow traffic to reenter northbound I-25. Travelers should use the off-ramps at Circle Drive/Lake Avenue Exit 138 or West Cimarron Street Exit 141 to access Nevada Avenue while the I-25 northbound Nevada Avenue Exit 140 is closed. Attached is a map that describes the detour during the US 24 westbound to I-25 northbound ramp closure.

Motorists need to be aware of possible traffic stops along the roadway. For project updates, please email [email protected] or call the project hotline at (719) 212-0139.
