Eastbound Alameda Closure from Santa Fe Drive to Cherokee Street

September 7, 2016 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - DENVER – Effective Friday, September 9, at 9:00 p.m. to Monday, September 12 at 5:00 a.m., eastbound Alameda Avenue will be closed between Santa Fe Drive and Cherokee Street to accommodate the installation of a water pipe.

To detour around this closure take Santa Fe Drive north to Bayaud Avenue, east to Cherokee Street, and south to rejoin with Alameda Avenue. Motorists should expect delays when driving through the area and alternate routes are advised.

Background

This $24 million project began in June 2014 and is scheduled to complete in Winter 2016/2017. Phases 1.2 and 1.3 were combined as a bridge replacement project that replaced the structures on I-25 over Santa Fe Drive. This project is now complete.

The current phase focuses primarily on Santa Fe Drive, Alameda Avenue and southbound Kalamath Street and includes the new bridge over the South Platte River that now carries southbound I-25 off-ramp traffic onto southbound Santa Fe Drive. In addition, this project will widen Alameda Avenue at Santa Fe Drive/Kalamath Street.

This project will improve safety for the traveling public in this area and will help to reduce congestion and improve mobility in this heavily traveled section of the metro area.
