Work to begin on I-70 culvert project next week

August 5, 2016 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Runaway truck ramp closed during construction

SUMMIT COUNTY-Beginning Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is beginning a culvert lining project on Interstate 70 between mile point 211 and 212. The majority of the work will take place on the shoulder, but for safety in the work zone the runaway truck ramp at mile point 211.5 will be closed for the duration of the project.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Construction will begin on the westbound side of I-70. The secondary emergency truck ramp is located three miles west of the project and will remain open. Work hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. In order to not impact weekend travel on the I-70 corridor, no westbound lane closures will occur on Fridays.

American West Construction was awarded the $831,000 contract to line the culvert and the project is expected to be complete by November 2016.

If you have questions about the project, please leave a message on the project hotline at 970-471-5094 or email us at [email protected].  You will receive a response within 24 hours on business days.
