I-70 over Havana Street Bridge Replacement Project
DENVER COUNTY — On Monday, August 15, through Saturday, August 20, construction activities continue on the I-70 over Havana Street bridge replacement project.
Lane shifts northbound & southbound Havana Street, beneath I-70
Beginning Monday, August 15, through Saturday, August 20, northbound and southbound Havana Street will experience alternating single lane closures for bridge construction. Closures will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday. The closure extends from the eastbound I-70 on-ramp to the westbound I-70 on-ramp.
Havana Street closed beneath I-70
Overnight Monday, August 15, through Friday, August 19, Havana Street beneath I-70 will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic while crews install girders for the new I-70 bridge. These closures will occur from 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. each night.
To detour around the nightly Havana Street closures, northbound Havana Street drivers will be directed west on East 40th Avenue to Central Park Boulevard, north on Central Park Boulevard to Northfield/East 47th Avenue and east on East 47th Avenue back to Havana Street. Southbound drivers will be directed to use the same detour route in reverse.
Right lane closure westbound I-70, Peoria Street to Central Park Boulevard
On Monday, August 15, through Friday, August 19, drivers can expect a single right lane closure on westbound I-70 from Peoria Street to Central Park Boulevard for girder installation. The closure will begin at 7:00 p.m. and open at 5:00 a.m. each day.
Closure westbound I-70 on-ramp from Havana Street
To safely facilitate bridge reconstruction, the westbound I-70 on-ramp from Havana Street is closed to motorists and pedestrians. To ensure the safety of the traveling public, pedestrians, cyclists and workers, the ramp will remain closed until late December 2016.
This work is weather dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
