Ramp Work begins at I-70/I-225 Interchange

July 25, 2016 - Metro Denver Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - AURORA – Bridge repairs are underway on the ramp from westbound Interstate 70 to southbound I-225.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project includes replacing the expansion joints, repairing the deck and overlaying the road surface with polyester concrete, which is being utilized since it creates a waterproof membrane and has a longer lifespan than other paving materials.

Ramp impacts are as follows:

  • Monday through Friday – 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., shoulder closures
  • Sunday through Thursday – 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., single lane closures

Drivers should be prepared for lane shifts and a reduced 45 mph speed limit through the project area. Vehicles wider than 12 feet also will be restricted from using the ramp during work hours.

A full ramp closure is scheduled from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday on the following weekends:

  • August 12 – 15
  • August 19 – 22
  • August 26 - 29

CDOT will be making additional notifications prior to each ramp closure and providing a signed detour route each weekend.

Work hours could be extended or additional weekend closures scheduled in order to complete the project by October 2016.

The prime contractor for the $2 million project is Truesdell Corp. of Tempe, AZ.
