Press Conference to Announce US 36 Express Lanes Substantially Complete to Boulder - June 13

June 9, 2016 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 & Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - BOULDER, CO – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and High Performance Transportation Enterprise (HPTE) will officially announce the substantial completion of CDOT’s first public-private partnership (P3) project, the US 36 Express Lanes Project, with a press conference on Monday, June 13.

Last summer, the first phase of the project was complete to Louisville/Superior and now the Express Lanes extend all the way into Boulder, opening the entire stretch of the US 36 Express Lanes Project. CDOT and HPTE pursued a P3 delivery process to deliver the project 20 years ahead of schedule and selected Plenary Roads Denver in 2013 to design, build, operate and maintain the project. Seasonal and final finishing work will continue this summer on the project.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: The Davidson Mesa Scenic Overlook is only accessible from westbound US 36.

From Denver - Take US 36 west toward Boulder; follow exit and signage to “Scenic
Overlook, Visitor Information” west of McCaslin Boulevard and east of Cherryvale.

From Boulder - Take US 36 east toward Denver; take the McCaslin Boulevard exit; head north on McCaslin Boulevard and follow signs to westbound US 36.

Once on US 36, follow exit and signage to “Scenic Overlook, Visitor Information” just west of McCaslin Boulevard and east of Cherryvale.

If you drive past the Davidson Mesa Scenic Overlook exit, continue on US 36 to Table Mesa Drive and follow signage to return to US 36.

PARKING: Limited parking is available for media and speakers at the Scenic Overlook. See
attached map for parking alternatives if parking spaces at overlook are full. Scenic
Overlook is accessible via the US 36 bikeway as well.

The US 36 Express Lanes Project is a multi-modal, public-private partnership led by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), the Colorado High Performance Transportation Enterprise (HPTE), and PRD. The project includes two free general purpose lanes in each direction, one tolled Express Lane in each direction, and a bikeway along the US 36 corridor  – offering users the choice to ride the bus, carpool, bike, use the two free reconstructed general purpose lanes or pay a toll in the Express Lanes.
