Night Closures planned for the weekend of June 17-20 for paving, signage and striping work
Full Closure of Fillmore Street & I-25 Ramps
The closures are necessary to allow crews to pave the top layer of asphalt across the bridge and ramps. This material is sensitive to disturbance, such as motorists driving over it. During this time, crews will also build median islands, apply fresh striping and install new signage and traffic signals.
“This is a major step toward finishing the project on time,” said Chief Construction Manager, Ted Tjerandsen. “We are excited and proud about this milestone in the project.”
Note the closure only affects Fillmore Street. All lanes of I-25 will be open during the weekend.
Detours and Alternate Routes
There will be signed detours along I-25 to guide motorists around the work. Motorists can utilize northbound Centennial Boulevard or I-25 to Garden of the Gods Road to access Mark Dabling Boulevard south to continue eastbound on Fillmore Street. Fontanero Street to northbound Chestnut will detour motorists around the closure to access westbound Fillmore Street.
Motorists should plan for extra time to detour around the closure.
About the Construction Project
The project converted the existing interchange into a Diverging Diamond Interchange configuration, the second along the Front Range and the third in Colorado. The new interchange provides a more efficient traffic flow by allowing for continuous transition on and off the highway, increasing traffic capacity and reducing conflict points at intersections. The project is approximately 87 percent complete and on schedule to be complete by summer 2016.
The Project Team thanks you for your patience as it continues to work on improvements along the corridor.
