Mesa Avenue Bridge Over I-25 To Close For Two-Month Rehabilitation

June 20, 2016 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - PUEBLO —The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor Flatiron Constructors, Inc. will close the Mesa Avenue Bridge over Interstate-25 beginning June 27 for bridge rehabilitation.

Starting at 6 a.m., Monday, June 27 Mesa Avenue will close from Elm Street to Taylor Avenue while crews rehabilitate the bridge. The bridge will remain fully closed until August 25.

While construction hours are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., the closure will remain in place 24 hours-a-day, every day during the two-month period. Slight traffic delays are expected and alternate routes are advised. Signs detouring travelers to Northern Avenue around the closure will be in place.

The I-25 Ilex Street to City Center Drive project is the first project of the New Pueblo Freeway: the reconstruction of I-25 between City Center Drive (1st Street) and Ilex Street through downtown Pueblo. Construction includes upgrading a number of bridges south of downtown. The project began in July 2015, and is expected to be completed in 2018.
