Left Turn Lane Closing on Alameda for a Couple of Months

June 14, 2016 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - The left turn lane from westbound Alameda Avenue to southbound Santa Fe Drive will be closed on Sunday, June 19, at 9 p.m., for water pipe installation. It will remain closed through August.

To access southbound Santa Fe Drive while the turn lane is closed, drivers can take Santa Fe Drive north to Byers Place, go west on Byers and south on Kalamath Street.

Motorists can also expect lane shifts on Alameda Avenue, between South Cherokee Street and Interstate 25, as two lanes of eastbound and westbound Alameda goes through the work zone.  Delays should be expected when driving through this area.

Background

This $24 million project began in June 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in winter 2016/2017. Phases 1.2 and 1.3 were combined as a bridge replacement project that replaced the structures on I-25 over Santa Fe Drive. This project is now complete.

The current phase focuses primarily on Santa Fe, Alameda and southbound Kalamath.  It includes the new bridge over the South Platte River that carries southbound I-25 off-ramp traffic onto southbound Santa Fe Drive. In addition, Alameda will be widened through the Santa Fe Drive/Kalamath Street intersections.

This project is designed to enhance safety, help reduce congestion and improve mobility through this heavily traveled area of Denver.
