Asphalt paving on Horizon Drive scheduled Friday and Saturday

June 15, 2016 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Minimal traffic impacts anticipated

MESA COUNTY – On Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18, crews will be conducting paving operations on the Horizon Drive Roundabout project, located at Exit 31 in Grand Junction. Crews will be laying asphalt both days from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Flaggers and signs will assist travelers in navigating work zones. All directions of travel will remain open with minimal impact to motorists.

PROJECT DETAILS: The I-70 Exit 31 Horizon Drive Roundabouts project is located on Horizon Drive at the interchange with Interstate I-70 (Exit 31) in Grand Junction. Details of the project include the construction on Horizon Drive of two modern-style roundabouts that assist in improving traffic flow and safety, as well as adding aesthetics to the area. Additional construction improvements include ramp upgrades, concrete sidewalks and gutters and re-surfacing. A new access route for the Grand Junction Visitors Center along Visitor’s Way has also been created.
