TRAVEL ADVISORY DATE CORRECTION: Weather permitting, helicopter operations begin tomorrow in Glenwood Canyon

GARFIELD COUNTY– The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) reminds motorists that Glenwood Canyon intermittent closures begin tomorrow, Tuesday, May 10th to Thursday, May 12th from 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM.

Lanes will be closed in both directions for 30 minute intervals; 45-minute traffic delays are anticipated. These closures are necessary for helicopter operations to deliver materials for permanent rockfall fences that are being installed on the slope above the interstate where the major rockslide occurred in February.

Closure Stop Points:

  • Eastbound: Mile point 124 (1.5 mile east of Shoshone)

  • Westbound: Just east of the Hanging Lake Tunnel bore
