Lane Closures Planned for Fillmore Street & I-25
COLORADO SPRINGS – Night time lane closures are expected on Fillmore Street and Interstate 25 from Monday, May 16 through Thursday, May 19. Closures are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. each evening and end the following morning by 5 a.m. Motorists can expect intermittent single-lane closures in both directions of Fillmore Street across the interchange and double- lane closures of both directions on I-25 at Fillmore Street. The closures are necessary to allow crews to finish painting the new bridge structures.
“We understand nobody likes getting stuck in traffic because of construction,” says Chief Construction Manager, Ted Tjerandsen, “By doing this work at night, we can minimize delays for the traveling public while working on an important upgrade to the community.”
Detours and Alternate Routes
There will be signed detours along I-25 to direct motorists around the work. Detours will utilize the Garden of the Gods Road and Fontanero Street exits.
Motorists should plan for extra time to detour around the closure.
About the Construction Project
The project will convert the existing interchange into a Diverging Diamond Interchange configuration, the second along the Front Range and the third in Colorado. The new interchange will provide a more efficient traffic flow by allowing for continuous transition on and off the highway, increasing traffic capacity and reducing conflict points atintersections. The project is approximately 88 percent complete and on schedule to be complete by summer 2016.
The Project Team thanks you for your patience as it continues to work on improvements along the corridor.
