CDOT’s “Slow-Speed Chase” Returns Tomorrow at Civic Center 420 Rally

May 20, 2016 - Traffic Safety - Mock Chase Warns Against Marijuana Use and Driving

DENVER — Heavy snow forced organizers to postpone the Denver 420 Rally in Civic Center Park last month, so tomorrow, Saturday, May 21, CDOT’s “Slow-Speed Chase” returns for the rescheduled gathering. A part of CDOT’s Drive High, Get a DUI campaign, the mock-police chase aims to educate attendees of the effects, laws and penalties of driving while high. The two vehicles involved in the chase — one that looks like a patrol car and the other wrapped in bright marijuana leaf designs — will display messages about the dangers and consequences of driving while high. The vehicles will also drive around the Five Points Jazz Fest, one of Denver’s largest annual events. In addition to the “Slow-Speed Chase,” the Rally organizers will show CDOT’s new “Rollover” commercial (bit.ly/rolloverad) every hour during the event, informing attendees that “if you’re high, don’t drive.”
