I-25 Paving Project Underway

April 12, 2016 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - LAS ANIMAS/HUERFANO COUNTIES – Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is starting work to upgrade the road surface and enhance safety on a 15 mile segment of Interstate 25 between Aguilar and Walsenburg (mile 32.5 - 47.26).

The $6.8 million project will include:

  • Resurfacing
  • Bridge work consisting of repairing and replacing concrete in poor condition
  • Upgrading guardrail in select locations
  • Installing safety edges, rumble strips and delineators
  • Striping
  • Traffic and environmental controls.

APC Southern Construction is the contractor on the project that is expected to be complete in fall of 2016.

Daytime work is taking place outside of traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no holiday or weekend work anticipated at this time. Speed limits have been reduced to 45 mph during work hours. Motorist should allow for travel delays as traffic is reduced to a single-lane through the work zone. All business and residential access will be maintained, but may be temporarily altered.
