Expect delays on SH 392 east of Lucerne starting Monday
Motorists should expect up to 20-minute delays during paving operations. The work zone will be subject to pilot car and flagger control in a single-lane alternating traffic configuration during daylight working hours (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
On Monday and again on Friday, crews will briefly close eastbound SH 392 between US Highway 85 and WCR 39 to perform work between the railroad crossing and WCR 39. Eastbound motorists will be detoured onto eastbound WCR 66 to northbound WCR 39 until the paving operation moves east of WCR 39. With winter weather in the forecast this weekend, the schedule is subject to change.
The project extends for approximately 10 miles from Mile Point 115.5 in Lucerne to WCR 59 (MP 126). Motorists should expect one-lane alternating traffic conditions for up to two miles at any point within the work zone from May through August 2016. Traffic will be held at intersections and driveways while equipment passes through. Speed limits will be reduced to 40 mph and fines are doubled within work zones.
Initial work involves pulverizing the existing asphalt, processing the asphalt in-place for use as road base, and compacting the surface. Traffic will be permitted to drive on the temporary surface for up to five days until each road segment receives a new asphalt overlay.
Since early April, CDOT and prime contractor, Martin Marietta, have been making repairs to irrigation pipes and drainages in advance of roadway resurfacing work.
