Glenwood Springs eastbound exit 116 ramp closures; I-70 eastbound closure at exit 116

March 21, 2016 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - GARFIELD COUNTY/GLENWOOD SPRINGS – The Colorado Department of Transportation announces eastbound closures at Interstate 70 Exit 116 on-ramp and off-ramp.

FULL CLOSURE I-70 EASTBOUND

All eastbound traffic on I-70 at Exit 116 (Main Glenwood to Aspen exit) will be closed beginning Tuesday, Mar. 22nd at Midnight to Wednesday, Mar. 23rd at 4:00 a.m. This four hour closure is necessary to move a large drill rig to another location. All eastbound traffic will be diverted at Exit 116. Motorists traveling I-70 westbound to Glenwood Springs or Aspen on SH 82 should exit at the West Glenwood exit 114.

I-70 Exit 116 (Main Glenwood to Aspen exit) eastbound on-ramp and off-ramp will be closed Wednesday, Mar. 23rd from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) – 4:00 p.m. Eastbound traffic will be detoured to exit 114 to US 6 to the Grand Avenue Bridge.

“This closure is necessary for paving underneath the Exit 116 interchange. Asphalt paving must be performed during the day to allow for workable asphalt temperatures,” says Tom Newland, CDOT project public information manager

The I-70 Exit 116 (Main Glenwood) eastbound on ramp will be closed all day and night beginning Monday, Mar. 21st to Friday, Mar 25th. Motorists wanting to access I-70 eastbound will need to take the west Glenwood on ramp at exit 114. Upgrades to the storm drain system continue at this location.
