Southbound I-25 closed tomorrow night at C-470 / E-470
All lanes will reopen by 5:30 a.m. Thursday. The ramps from C-470 and E-470 to southbound I-25 will be closed during the full closure. All work is weather-permitting.
Southbound motorists will be detoured off I-25 at E-470 (exit 194), exit E-470 at S. Peoria Street, turn south (right) on S. Peoria Street, turn west (right) on Lincoln Avenue and stay right to enter southbound I-25. A detour map is available on the project website (www.codot.gov/projects/
Eastbound C-470 traffic may continue directly on E-470 or take northbound I-25, turn around at the Dry Creek Road interchange and join the southbound I-25 signed detour. Westbound E-470 traffic is encouraged to turn south on S. Peoria Street in advance of the I-25 interchange.
E-470 tolls will not be collected along the detour route while the full closure is in place. Northbound I-25 will remain open.
Sign bridge installation is part of the I-25 widening project, which is nearing completion. Final median barrier and lighting installation will continue over the next several weeks.
Background:
The I-25 Widening Project adds an additional lane in each direction on I-25 from Lincoln Avenue to County Line Road, resulting in four lanes in each direction south of the C-470 / E-470 interchange. In addition to expanding capacity on I-25, crews have replaced asphalt with concrete to better match the I-25 corridor. This project improves traffic patterns from and to all affected ramps as well as provides new pedestrian connections. Funded by CDOT, Douglas County, City of Lone Tree and the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), this $32 million project is ahead of schedule with anticipated substantial completion in early 2016.
