Yes, it’s finally happening! US 287 to LaPorte Bypass
Larimer County – The final four-laning of US 287 will begin next month from Fort Collins to LaPorte … finally.
The Colorado Department of Transportation will host an open house on the project from 5-7 p.m. on Jan. 25 at Rocky Mountain Innosphere, located at 320 East Vine Drive, Fort Collins.
CDOT and Lawson Construction, the construction contractor, will be on hand to answer questions regarding scheduling, impact to the construction area and the overall improvements to the northern entrance to Fort Collins.
The $21 million project is on US 287 from Highway 1 (Terry Lake Road) to the LaPorte Bypass intersection and will include the construction of a new roundabout at the LaPorte Bypass intersection. Because this project will be more than doubling the size of the current roadway, most of the work will be able to be done off the current road, limiting impacts to traffic.
When completed in the fall of 2018, this will be the final step in having US 287 four lanes (two in each direction) from Broomfield to LaPorte. That project began in the 1990s, including some of the environmental discussions of this stretch.
Those who are unable to attend the information meeting can send their name, address, phone number and email address to [email protected]. Questions and comments can also be directed to the project information line at 970-532-3139. Information is also available on the CDOT website at www.codot.gov/projects/
